Hi!!! I had such a fun week last week! Our family has finally become wide-spread enough to require us to hold family reunions to see our siblings!!!! So for our first one, we all (minus McKay and Rod) went to Mom's house to hang out, stay up way too late, eat way too much , and play fun games like BANG. We enjoyed the 4th of July fireworks at the river in IF, then we all headed to Island Park to our neighbor's cabin that they so graciously let us borrow for the week. They even had a stocked pond out front. At the cabin we....big suprise....hung out, stayed up way too late, ate way too much, played fun games like BANG, and also added some canoeing, hiking, fishing, and movie watching. It was sooo nice to get away from life and enjoy the company of family. If only Rod and McKay would have been able to make it, then it would have been perfect.
Some highlights: (pics to come later, this computer is being silly right now) Fishing. Stocked pond with lots of fish. 5 rainbow trout to 1 golden trout. Dad offered a $10 prize to the person who caught the first gold one! Day one: Lots of fish caught, but no gold one. Day two: my kids' first time fishing, John's first cast, and he pulls in the the gold one! He was soooo proud of himself and thought he was rich with that $10 prize!!! Then TeAnna casts out and pulls in a gold one! Very cool, and since it seems our family doesn't like to see fish flopping around on the bank, all three kids were the official "fish killers". Chuck a rock at it's head and end it's suffering. Still not sure what to think about that one. :)
We went to Mesa Falls. Very pretty scenery. Then someone decided that it would be fun to throw a stick out from the viewing platform into the waterfall to watch it go down. Of course, Mom hiked up the mountain, off the trail, and gathered up sticks. Ever tried to play Pooh Sticks over a waterfall?
Canoeing at Mack's Inn. Me and Jesse in a canoe, Jeff and Karla in one, and Mom and Tae in one. Lots of fun. Very peaceful and quiet. Then, on the way back to return the canoes, Jesse and Mom decided it was way too nice to stay in the canoe. So Mom takes off her shoes and dangles her feet in the water. Sounded nice, so Jesse and I did the same. Then Mom got out and walked behind the canoe for a while (knee deep water). Jesse got out, then found a deep spot and started swimming beside the canoe! He looked like a giant albino frog! After swimming for a while, he just hung on the back of canoe and let me drag him along! All you could see what his little paws hanging onto the back! I, of course, stayed dry on board. :) When we caught up to Jeff and Karla, we found Karla relaxing in the middle of the canoe and Jeff faithfully paddling away. It looked just like they should have been in a gondola in Venice with Jeff singing "That's Amore' ". Very sweet.
Last day there, I finally caught a fish! First a rainbow, then I caught the elusive golden trout!!!! Yeah!!! No ten bucks, but bragging rights none the less.
So, overall, a very fun week. Can't wait to do it again!!!!!
