Only in Utah...
Rod and I have what we call..."only in Utah". It's the name we give for the things that are normal in Utah but would seem out of place anywhere else. Example: all of the missionaries in the Ogden area marching IN a parade! Sure, it was Pioneer Days, but still. Here is the latest one we found...look at the picture. Ogden temple, right? Well, look what's marching in front of the temple.......................

The Budweiser Clydesdales! I know, we shouldn't endorse beer, but look how pretty these horses are! Well, handsome. They are all boys. They came to town as part of the Budweiser sponsored Pioneer Days celebrations. (only in Utah!) I had to go see them. I found where they were staying, got to meet them and watch them get dressed for the show. (couldn't pet them, though. against the rules. but I did get to pet the dog!)
The horses are, in order from back to front, right to left: Bernie and Tim, Jake and Alan, Dave and Scooby, Mike and Kelso. This one looking at me is Bernie. Oh, the dog's name is Brady. Never got the driver's name.

It was a fun way to spend an afternoon. It was fun learning about the horses. They are all boys, have to be the same bay color with black hair, a white stripe on the face and four white legs. There are four main "hitches" for the four sections of the USA. They are on the road 320 days of the year, traveling from place to place in 3 special semi trucks. Two for the horses and one for the wagon and all the gear. John and Tae and I had fun getting online and watching all the commercials the horses have done, and at the same time telling them NEVER to drink beer. :) It's all about the horses, I promise.

  1. Perhaps you should also play "Only Becky". I think knowing so much about these horses would qualify for that game. Props for going the extra mile to learn about them. And John and Tae--don't drink beer.
